Welcome to our Health Promoting Schools Webpage!

Being a Health Promoting School we are committed to working with Toi Te Ora - Public Health Service, to improve the health and wellbeing of our Students, Staff and Whānau using the philosophy of Health Promoting Schools (HPS).   We are able to focus on how the social, physical, cultural and spiritual environment of our school impacts on student health and wellbeing, and the ability of the student to learn effectively.

We do this by using a whole school approach to identify the needs that can often create barriers to how our students learn and achieve.  From here we can then develop strategies and actions that address these needs, and we are able to improve student learning and achievement.

As well as adopting the HPS Framework, we use the Whare Tapawha model as a guideline in our approach to identifying areas of need.

The diagram below shows the process we are following in order to gain our Bronze Accreditation.
We are currently at the Develop action and evaluation plan stage of this process and are aiming to have our Bronze accreditation by the end of Term 3, 2013.

We hope that you will support us by joining us in this exciting journey!
